![]() Hopefully these changes take effect before anyone else clicks "add shortcut to OneDrive". I've disabled it in SharePoint Online Management via powershell for now. ![]() they'll delete every friggen file we have before anyone realizes anything is wrong. If this happens to someone more reckless. We only lost one entire SharePoint library and had to restore everything from the recycle bin. Holy shit I'm glad one of my smart users had this happen to him before it happened to someone else. So the aftermath will be users with a bunch of unsync'd drives they probably didn't realize are no longer synchronized, and bunch of folders that look like personal folders but are actually shared SharePoint Document Libraries sitting inside of a user's OneDrive for Business folder. There's no button to cancel the Add Shortcut to OneDrive. Then they'll have these shortcuts showing up in their OneDrive for Business folder that they've come to expect are their own, personal files.Īs far as I can tell, there's no way to clear that error without unsynchronizing the entire sharepoint document library. Users are going to click that error resolution and immediately unsync their libraries. There's no option to ignore or to cancel the shortcut request. Worst part? If someone accidently clicks "add shortcut" on a folder within a directory they already have synchronized through traditional method, it will throw an error that on the OneDrive icon with the only resolution being "Unsync conflicting folder". And this is where that shortcut will show up. Gahh.įor anybody else that's just learning this, this is where the button is. Everyone is going to see these document libraries as if they are their own personal files. This "Add Shortcut to OneDrive" completely undermines that. The files that fall under their OneDrive for Business folder are their own to do with whatever they want. Part of the training for non-tech people is that the folders that fall under the SharePoint Document Libraries are shared folders that many people interact with-so they need to be careful about deleting/modifying files in there. We rely pretty heavily on SharePoint document libraries.
